Cupping II
Cupping II: Jue Guan Cupping
Refining & Finessing Connection
Negative pressure (cupping) has a couple of major strengths: the ability to pull things out, and the ability to support. In Cupping II we’ll take a good look at the supporting aspect, and the endless potential it offers.
Jue Guan can be translated as Sensing Cupping – as Internal Arts expert Sam Masich writes:
The word jue absolutely brims with significance. It is
comprised of two components, the topmost part
originally having to do with learning (xue) and the
bottom to do with seeing. At a basic level it means to
‘perceive’, ‘sense’ or ‘feel’ and can be used to refer
directly to ‘feeling’ or ‘sensation’. It can also mean
‘become aware’, ‘become awakened’ and ‘discover’.
Sliding/Moving Cupping is the most common translation of Zou Guan, although the character zou can more accurately be translated as walk, or walk with. We’ll look at how the skill of walking with your client naturally and spontaneously becomes available when good connection is established.
Workshop material will include:
- listening energy (ting jin)
- comprehending energy (dong jin)
- receiving energy (zou jin)
- neutralizing energy (hua jin)
- seizing energy (na jin)
- enticing energy (yin jin)

- methods for troubleshooting connection
Designed for folks with at least some familiarity with fire cupping, this workshop continues where Cupping I leaves off – we’ll dig deeper into many of the areas we only got to briefly touch on.
