33 CEs for OR/WA LMTs – $520
pre-registration required

In this class we will use the Thai self massage work from Reusi Dat Ton as a vehicle to study some foundational basics of Thai Bodywork – element theory and the layers of the physical body. We’ll look at identifying the individual layers, bodywork techniques to efficiently and effectively work the layers, and basic sequencing for full body and spot specific treatments.

Developed by the ancient Reusi (Thai spiritual ascetics), self massage practices were used for studying the body & medicine – and most likely evolved into much of what we now know as Thai massage. And of course, the work can also be used as fantastic self-care. (“Reusi Dat Ton” roughly translates to “the Reusi adjusts him/herself”)

What you will need:

  • a copy of David Wells Self Massage and Joint Mobilization of Traditional Thai Yoga book
  • a copy of Nephyr Jacobsen’s Seven Peppercorns book
  • a few square feet of quiet, distraction-free space
  • a comfortable blanket or cushion to sit on
  • computer (with camera & microphone) & Zoom
  • a well-fit N95 (or better) mask (for the in-person sessions)

Total workshop hours will include video presentation, reading, live Zoom instruction, in-person hours, and homework (some to be completed before our first meeting, some to be completed in between sessions). You’ll end up with a total of 33 supervised CEs, which will include an hour of Cultural Competency and eight hours of Boundaries (fulfills the ethics/communication/boundaries renewal requirement).
